What I have learnt so far is that one that shares knowledge makes a positive contribution to other people and also adds value to their own understanding from feedback...
People that do not share knowledge can hinder the progress of other individuals or organisations... and this will cause further harm in the longer term....
I have personally been guilty of this and my views are now starting to change... because of KM...
To be continued...

To share or not to share...
ReplyDeleteTherefore its like to say.."To be ... or not to be..."
I agree to your section above, however, knowledge sharing does not always necessarily mean that what you share they will be able to understand...
I too have been guilty (have I?? :s) but not on the view perspective of IC!! Even though sharing and training what I know to someone, they will not always take the full initiative and wanting to know what you really know.
I give you an example that one is still currently in progress of training someone so that this can hinder offer them progression to learn more but a lot more IT related rather than doing things the manual way. This can be time consuming but no matter how hard you try to share what you know... this too will hinder one self from progresion to move on to develop the organisation better. Does this subsequently mean 'let it be? or forget it?'
There is someone who is stuck and lost in the middle of 'the meaning of knowledge sharing'!
One point of thought, KM can explored in many different angles. (Organisational Behaviour, IT, Ethical issues, Law, Maths, Statistical, Art, Science, Pyschology, Drama) =)
Look forward in seeing the remainder of your article on this! :)
Man-Chie... that’s true about the "full initiative", for example: some of The A-Team members, want to know.. but not really bothered to act upon it...!
ReplyDeleteWhere's you work?!? You claim "your views have changed?"
ReplyDeletep.s - where you say to "be continued" - how long for till the next lot is revealed?..
